Overview / Purpose
The Public Art Grants exist to encourage a rich, multi layered interpretation of the Northern Territory's built and cultural heritage, natural environment and dynamic community represented through innovative, excellent and relevant artistic practice in well designed community spaces. The Public Art Grant of Major Works supports the creation of artistic work in public places.
Funding of up to $150,000 is available.
Who can apply
Commissioning agencies, organisations, councils, architects, developers and/or building owners are eligible to apply.
Eligible Activities
Eligible activities include:
- Project expenses, development expenses, artist fees and/or materials.
- Major projects emphasising public artworks specifically commissioned to compliment new or developing building or other civil projects.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Artistic merit.
- Calibre of skills and experience of the artist/arts workers.
- Calibre of skills and experience of the commissioning agency/developers.
- Relevance of the work in relation to its site, place and community.
- Clear project brief.
- Evidence of community support and benefit.
- Accurate and viable budget.
- Appropriate longevity of the work in regards to site/project.
- Accessibility for the public including disability access.
