Overview / Purpose
The Public Art Grants exist to encourage a rich, multi layered interpretation of the Northern Territory's built and cultural heritage, natural environment and dynamic community represented through innovative, excellent and relevant artistic practice in well designed community spaces. The Public Art Grants are eligible for small and medium sized artistic works and covers project expenses, development expenses, artists’ fees and materials.
Funding of up to $30,000 is available for small works and medium works.
Who can apply
The following individuals are eligible to apply:
- Commissioning agencies, councils, architects, developers and/or building owners.
- Individuals, groups or organisations.
Eligible Activities
Eligible activities include:
- Small and medium projects that are incorporated in new building or civil projects.
- Works in existing environments.
- Works in addition to existing public art collections/precincts.
- Temporary, performance and ephemeral work.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Quality of artistic program.
- Benefits to the cultural development of the community, including skills development.
- Resources, skills and ability to manage the festival.
- Evidence of community and arts sector support.
- Development of Community Festivals.
- Artistic innovation, quality and excellence.
- Accurate and viable budget.
- Resources, skills and ability to manage the development.
- Support from other sources, including funding, in-kind support and other income.
- Potential for improved positioning of the Festival and opportunities for cultural tourism through Festival activities.
