Crime Prevention and Community Safety Grants – General Grants Stream

Overview / Purpose

This program aims to fund community that have a plan to improve community safety in their area.

The objectives of the program are to:
- Reduce and prevent crime.
- Make neighbourhoods safer.
- Improve community capacity to reduce crime and improve community safety.
- Increase collaboration and community participation in local crime prevention initiatives.
- Reduce the fear of crime.

Grants between $10,000 and $100,000 (GST exclusive) are available.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants include organisations with an ABN, which is either:
- Incorporated, not-for-profit, community body
- Local government council
- Organisation sponsoring an unincorporated, not-for-profit, community body

Eligible Activities

Eligible projects must address one or more of the following crime/safety issues:
- Domestic and family violence
- Reduction in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander crime and victimisation
- Prevention of crime against people with disability
- Property crime such as robbery, domestic burglary, and motor vehicle theft
- Early intervention projects with families, children and schools
- Alcohol-fuelled violence
- Drug related crime
- Reducing fear of crime or promoting community safety
- Anti-social behaviour including hoon and dangerous driving
- Crime prevention through environmental design
- Victimisation

Assessment Criteria

The main assessment crieria include:
- Why is the project needed?
- What will it achieve?
- How will it be successfully delivered?
- Who is involved?
- Does the project demostrate outcomes through planned monitoring and evaluation?

The following are ineligible for funding:
- Capital equipment and capital works
- Core operational funding
- Retrospective or deficit funding
- Individual
- Political organisations
- Unincorporated organisations
