Overview / Purpose
The Bail Support Funding is an initiative of the Queensland Government, through the Department of Communities. The program will provide funding of up to $37,392 per annum under the Bail Support Funding initiative to an eligible agency to supply Bail Support services to young people on bail in Mareeba and the Tablelands. This service will assist young people charged with offences to establish and maintain stable accommodation and successfully comply with bail conditions.
Who can apply
To apply for funds under the Bail Support Funding Initiative, organisations must hold ASP status.
Eligible Activities
The target group are young people 10-17 years who have been charged with an offence, are being considered for bail; and who require stable accommodation to assist them to meet the conditions of their bail. Outcomes to be achieved by the Bail Support Service are:
- Young people will be able to maintain stable accommodation arrangements whilst subject to bail.
- Young people will be able to meet the conditions of their bail.
- Youth Justice Service centres will be able to provide high quality advice to the courts that will contribute to the informed decisions about the granting of bail for young people.
